Is the turbo actually different? Are the injectors actually different? Any changes to the block, pistons, con rods, crank, pushrods, valves, heads, cooling system, etc? That's what I'm really after.

i think we will find out for sure over the next year,
as tuning progresses and people start blowing them up

i have more trouble searching here, the engine doesnt take anything less than 4 letter words

I posted above

The larger turbo, injectors and HPFP were all introduced in the 2015 Gen 2 6.7

There are very small differences between a 2016 and 2017 engine.

2017 turbo has a internal oil drain now (otherwise same specs as 2015-2016 turbos)

Same HPFP as 2016 and below

New turbo pedestal

2017 has different rods to accommodate larger wrist pins

New water pump

New oil cooler

New engine mounts

There is a nice easy search for the forum, just use Google with:
"site:ford-trucks.com" in the search. You can also click "tools" on Google and limit the search time window to the past week, month, etc.

Any links to the changes of the specs to the rods, wrist pins and pistons? Can't just change wrist pins and not effect all the other components.
The 15 and 16 have different rods, wrist pins and pistons, block ect than the 2014 and older.
I'd like to read some of these specs.

Where are you getting your info from? From reading PowerstrokeHub, they state the turbo on the 2011-2014 was the SST type (verified) and then in 2015 changed to the larger wheel VGT, (verified) and then changed again in 2017 back to a SST. Here's the quote:
The 6.7L Power Stroke initially employed a unique single sequential turbocharger (SST) which features a dual compressor and single turbine setup affixed to a common shaft. The unit was replaced by a single Garrett GT37 variable geometry turbocharger (VGT) for the 2015 model year, subsequently increasing horsepower and torque in combination with additional upgrades. The SST returned to the Power Stroke for the completely revised 2017 model year Super Duty; torque reached an all time high at 925 lb-ft.
Here's the link: 6.7L Power Stroke Diesel Specs & Info

So maybe they are wrong, but it seems I've heard other info that states the turbo is different as well. When you state "new water pump," I ask "which one?" There are two. When you say the oil cooler is new, I say maybe. From laying under both my 2016 and 2017, the oil coolers appear to be utterly identical. Now, the transmission cooler is new and different. Perhaps that is what you are referring to.

What we need is a revision to the 6.7L Coffee Table book that documents the changes for MY2017. Short of that, I'd say it is all conjecture. The only documented change to the oil cooler was the elimination of the "hidden" stud on the back that required the removal of the lower oil pan to access. I also doubt the SST was brought back since Ford was unable to generate enough volume with the SST on the 11-14 MY trucks which resulted in a lack of power at altitude and very little exhaust braking. GM caught onto that and made a series of videos demonstrating all the ways that the turbo was inadequate as well as the "twist ditch" demonstration displaying the open c vs fully boxed frame disadvantages(a little bit of Fords own medicine as I recall Tundra vs F150...)

I agree - I want the coffee table book! And I'm not defending PowerstrokeHub's assertion that the turbo is new. I recall exactly what you say - less power at high altitude and less exhaust braking. Perhaps they found some way to overcome that. Or perhaps PSM 6.4 is correct that the turbo is basically the same one as the 440/860 engine. The oil cooler stud was removed pretty early on (maybe 2012) as was the plastic oil pan with the quarter-turn oil drain. Oddly, the 2.7L EcoBoost engines in the F-150 have the plastic pan and quarter turn plug, so not sure what was so wrong with that on the Super Duty.

Have the 2017 6.7 changes been well documented by now, and if so where?
