no problem, I'm a dealer tech so I work on a lot of makes. I own a 90 f150 4x4 4.9 5 speed and I love it. The eeciv engine management on the obd 1 fords is a great set up. You'll be happy with a 300l6 or a 5.8. I havent seen alot of 5.8 f150 though. Mostly 4.9(300) or the 5.0

Since mine was a 95, I checked into it and in Texas it is through 24 years old. As you said, emissions only and all Texas vehicles have to have a safety inspection.
