Resurrecting a 95 5.8L

I parked the F250 in 2011 because the thing sucked so much gas (11mpg w/3.55 gears) and the A/C quit. Well the other day, I checked the fluids and said what the heck, put a battery in it and lo and behold, it fired up with 2011 10% ethanol gas.

The 5.8 is actually a 93 model I swapped out many years ago and the idle wants to hunt. I can rap the throttle linkage on the butterfly shaft and it will calm down. I shot some PB blaster on the spring and linkage and it has helped that out a lot, but the engine still misses a little and the idle isn't really steady. It's about 750 rpm +or- 50. I think it was doing that some when I parked it in 2011 once in a while, but my memory is fuzzy. What should I do?

Also the front tank is dry as a bone but the fuel gauge pegs out past F. Maybe I should put some gas in it and let the float slosh around some?

DUDE! Where yah been???

Contact your chapter bros! Thomas & I been wanting to get the band back together...

Run the codes, check your vac lines all around. I'm thinking hitting the TB could be the TPS just as easy a leak around the shaft.

I got the a lil' toy I made for checking it in place without poking holes in the wires.

Clean the Idle air control valve.

Seriously, you need to get back in the pool. With Crusing the Coast & our tinkering we have a some fun.

Hey ole buddy! Is Barry still around? Call me sometime 601-572-1112

I'll have to remember how to run the codes with a test light. I just got back from the tire store, you should have seen the Mexicans fight to get the rear wheels off after the lug nuts were removed. I'm not sure what they were muttering in Spanish, but it wasn't pleasant.

Changed the TPS. I still have a miss of some sort. What is this thing and where does the other end go?

Keep in mind this is a 93 engine in a 95 chassis, if that matters.

Looks like the evaporative canister purge line. Cap it where it goes into the throttle body & it should cut your vacuum leak.

I got your #, you might want to go back & delete it.

Barry dropped out & has been working at the Ag museum. Think he set the place on fire few years back...

But I hear he wants to start getting back in. I'll drop you a PM.
