Using powerstroke zf5?

Using powerstroke zf5?
I have a 92 f250 4x4 with the older s5-42 zf5. The trans shop said he would rather fine me a used transmission instead of fixing what i have, that way it doesnt get expensive. If i do that i would rather use the newer s5-47 zf5. I know they bolt up but i called carolina clutch about my luk solid flywheel kit i ordered for the s5-42 and he said it wont fit the newer zf5. So would i have to use the clutch and pressure plate from the newer truck and the flywheel for a 92? Are there any other issues with the swap?

As far as I know the S5-42 and S5-47 are interchangeable for the same application, only internals have changed but not external dimensions or input/output size and splines. The S5-47 is about unobtainium as I was searching for the longest time while doing annual S5-42 replacements due to catastrophic failures. I understand the case is stronger, which was always the cause of my failures either outright breakage or I suspect issues from case flex changing internal clearances and bearing preload.
