I was just wondering something bout the 2 different clutches that came in the early 80s model trucks, i read that you can put either the 10 or 11 inch clutch in and it will fit in the bell housing. The only difference is that the 11 is more heavy duty, does anyone know if this holds true? All help will be appreciated
I read the same thing when it was time to do my clutch last fall. I was tempted to try the 11" because I read that the flywheel should already have bolt holes for both 10 and 11" on my 1980 F250. I decided to go with the 10" Centerforce kit, when I had the old flywheel out I only saw bolt holes that matched the 10"clutch. Unless the 11" uses the same holes I don't think it would have fit.
By the way I have had no problems with the Centerforce, nice and smooth engagement and much less pedal effort than my old stock unit.
Thomas188,
Just did the clutch on my 85 f-150 with 4.9 and had a np-435, now has a SROD manuel trans swap and my flywheel had holes for 10,and 11" clucthes.
I went with a 10" perfection and so far I'm happy.Mark
