New Tires

Hello-
I am needing new tires, I have the chrome clad 18" wheels I really want 20" rims, but we will see how I can float that with the Mrs.

I have BF Goodrich AT/KO's now, I upgraded to them from the crap stock continentals, I like the look of these, but hate everything else about them.

They really have worn like crap
They are loud
I lost 1.5-2mpg when I put them on.

I am thinking about more of a "regular" tire like the firestone transforce or the stock Michelin tires. I like raised White letters... I know weird right?

Does anyone have any recommendations or pictures?

I really would like the MPG back 1.5-2 per per tank adds up when I'm towing my RV or on longer trips.

I did exactly what you're describing. Here's my thread

They are "new take offs" that I found on ebay. There were numerous sets to be found. Once I found a set with a price I could live with, I pounced. I think I paid about $1750 including freight.

Look to the Michelin Defender LTX, a new design for heavy duty trucks that retain mpgs. I love them and they are priced well with a lot of sizes to choose from.

You might want to try some Cooper AT3. IMHO they are a premium quality tire but don't have the premium price. I'm on my second set, the first set lasted a good 40k miles. Good on snow, quiet, long lasting, made in the USA. Oh, and they feel good, not mushy like Michelins.

I'm a Cooper fan also. Had them on my old truck and when the time comes for new tires I will go Cooper again. They have a decent selection to choose from plus I believe made in the U. S.!

I had the AT/KO's on my Wrangler. They also wore fast, but even.
I replaced them with the new KO 2's. Much better tire. They ran silent, and my Jeep actually handled in the Rain for the first time. I had about 5000 miles on them when I sold my Jeep. Totally satisfied with them. I'll probably install another set when I get another Jeep.
