5th wheel prep package

If you order the 5th wheel prep package for 370 does that also let you tow a goose neck or or do you also have to order the goose neck prep for 250 Thanks.

The $370 5th Wheel Prep, are the holes in the bed and all the mounting hardware underneath as well as the plug inside the bed.

The $250 GN is the actual Ball and pucks that the chains hook to.

You will need both part numbers in order to tow a GN trailer

great Thanks for all the info. I havent looked into the 5th wheel hitches yet. I will be towing both 5th wheel and goose neck. Do the hitches connect to the center hole? Does the safety chain loops interfer with the 5th wheel hitch placement? I am sure this is all figured out i have just never seen it.

When using a 5ver hitch you only use the outer 4 holes. The center one is GN only. You don't use safety chains when using a 5th hitch. You remove the safety chain eyes when using a 5th hitch as they are in the holes that the 5th hitch uses.

ok thanks, sounds like a pain? or maybe its easy to remove the safety chain eyes? I would convert my 5th wheel to goose neck but I think I need a slider hitch since I am going to get a short bed pickup.

The chain plugs are easy to remove, Lift a tab and turn 90° and left out. Takes about 10 seconds each

No, very easy. The GN eyes come right out just like a 5th hitch would. It would take you all of 10 seconds to remove them. GN conversions on 5vers have been known to cause issues unless you go with a Reese Goosebox. I would keep it as is though. As far as a slider, that's personal preference. I have never run a slider and have always had short beds. You just have to pay attention in tight corners. Some folks like to have it 100% foolproof and want a slider and I understand that. Personally, I just don't want something that big and heavy.

Agreed. I bought a slider hitch for my truck in 2010. I have never once used the slider option yet.
