Whats up fellas im new to this site and i have allready learned alot of cool stuff, but im stumped. Ive got a 81 bronc with a 302 2bbl wich i am in the process of rebuilding the bottom end, and when I pulled the cam gear off I found this thing "they" call a acentric that runs the fuel pump. Well needless to say i have never seen one; never had a ford motor apart. As moast of you know its a two peice item, and my question is are the race and the acentric supposed to be loose (free floating) or am i missing a bearing or some thing.
it is supposed to be loose. i just totally redone a 302 it used to be fuel injected out of a 90 model truck and as you know fuel injected engines don't have mechanical fuel pumps and it does not need the ecentric. when i bought my new double roller timing set i did not know it had to be an earlier year to bolt up the ecentric. i bought a timing set for a 90 model so the ecentric does not fit.now i am using an electric pump and it sucks i need one that pumps more fuel for the engine that i built.
