Rebuilding an AOD

How easy is it to rebuild an AOD? I'm a first time tranny rebuilder. I know I would need to do more reasearch on it, but what is the gut feel?

Rebuilding an AOD

Vgengooms I took a couple of classes at the local Vo-tech on transmission rebuilding and I recommend it to anyone wanting to rebuild one. Rebuilding an automatic transmission is not difficult, it just requires a few special tools and good instructions. You will need to find a transmission parts house in your area. I save 25% off of the local price of rebuild kits buying them from www.bulkpart.com. I prefer to get the heavy parts, like the torque converter, locally. For lots of good information on Ford trans. try www.baumannengineering.com. I had a 4R70W, a glorified AODE, rebuilt about 18 months ago at a cost of $1600. When I took the class I discovered that the parts cost to overhaul an AOD was around $200, $1400 can buy a lot of tools and books. Good luck
