2016 Fuel Filter

Is the 2016 fuel filter different from earlier models? I'm in the process of doing a filter change and noticed the top (engine bay) filter is completely different from what I purchased on Amazon, I know...shouldn't have trusted Amazon. I even asked if the one I bought would fit a 2016.

I installed the bottom filter with no problems, but the top filter is completely different. Now I'm questioning whether or not the bottom filter element is the same.

The part # I purchased was FD-4615. Is this the correct part #?

BTW, my truck is a 2016 F350 FWD.

That is the part # for my 2015... What's different about it? I don't have a '16 to go out and look at...

On the top filter, the housing is different, it doesn't slide in and lock with a 1/4 turn, it has a 10 mm bolt that holds it down instead. the housing on my truck has a flange to bolt down.

That's what my 2015 has/is like... A bolt near the bottom of the filter that holds it in place. Sounds like you got an older one. My 2011 was a turn a lock with a small screw that was located near the top of the filter.

Check page 55 of you 2016 Ford Diesel Supplemental manual. The filter part number is the same as you ordered off Amazon - FD-4615.

Also, read your manual on how to change the filters. Starting page 19 for frame filter and page 20 for under the hood filter.

the part # in the supplemental manual shows FD-4615, and explains how to change the top filter by using the "turning method", that won't work on my truck as the top filter housing is completely different. It bolts down using a small bolt, maybe a 10mm. I'm a bit confused right now.

I do appreciate the help though.

you got an old filter. When the 6.7 first came out in 2011 they used that bolt.

In 2012 that was eliminated as not needed. Just do a bolt delete and use the filter.
