So this weekend my truck was running great I had just replaced the turn signal switch and then it wouldn't shut off and the lock cylinder would turn without the key in it. So I replaced the ignition switch and the lock cylinder. I had my buddy trying to start it and it would turn over but not fire. I saw the, what I assume is the hot wire on the coil, the green wire smoking. The wiring looked really deteriorated so I went to a junkyard and found some good wiring from an 85 and replaced all the wiring and the coil. The battery died so I haven't tried to start it but is there anything else I should look at. There was a lot of exposed wiring and that green wire was exposed too so that was why I replaced all of it. Any help or thoughts would be greatly appreciated.
Usually, when something stops working just after a repair has been made, that something was caused by the "repair". Are you certain the ignition switch [electrical at the bottom of the steering column] is properly adjusted?
