Hey all, new to diesels but enjoying it so far. Just got a 2000 excursion 7.3. The history on this veh is a little cloudy. The body has 300k on it but I was told the engine was swapped with 150k on new engine. I have been doing a lot of catch up using youtube with DieselTechRon (tragic!) and other vids, so I am aware of most of the basic known issues with these 7.3's. I just wanted to throw this out there before I dig in. The motor really stumbles at low RPM. When driving , if I put my foot into it, the engine smooths out. When driving at lower speeds (like a residential area) shifting from 2nd to 3rd the RPMs drop and the engine vibrates. Again if i get on the throttle the engine runs better. ICP had oil on connector. Have not checked IPR. I performed the buzz test with Car gauge pro using BAFX OBDii. I have seen the issue with the VC gasket connector. But I keep reading about issues with the IDM. I see buzz test shows the p1293 bank 1 (VC harness?) but also noticed no code for cyl #4. During buzz test, only two injectors sounded muted (#2 & #8) all the other injectors sounded normal (normal to me). Fuel gauge on dash always reads full so i guess that's the fuel sender and the so the tank comes down and maybe the mod. My plan is to perform a fuel pressure test. Bank 1 VC harness, then check IDM connections. Looking for advice or history to make sure I'm not missing something. Thanks!!
My E99 with 76k miles is doing similar as your truck. ICP connection on mine is clean though. ICP numbers via my scan guage look good too. Have a blue CPS in it (ran much worse with grey CPS). I have ordered an AE with Ford bundle from Riff-Raff that I am expecting by the weekend. I will do the scans with that and keep you posted in hopes that maybe I find something that will help you out too.
