Plain old oil change

Changed the oil yesterday and recorded it. I also installed the EZ Drain valve and am looking forward to the next change.

Pro tip:

Sneak the dirty dishtowels into the bottom of the laundry basket so your wife doesn't get wise.

That original filter looked to be wrenched down pretty good. Seemed like it took a lot of effort to get it to spin. What ever happened to hand tight?

Nice video! Where did you get the drain valve from?

Good video. That new drain valve scares me though. Seems too easy to move. They should have put a safety clip or some type of pin to remove before it could rotate. I do like like the ease of use of it though.

Agree, needs a safety clip on that ball valve. Otherwise, great idea.

Success with the filter punching has been so eratic in the last couple of years. Sometimes it drains but more often it doesn't. So I've kind of given up on it. I'm thinking the orange rubber ring acts as a back-flow preventer to keep oil in the lines above. It used to work so well but now, it's just a mystery.

Rodney turned me on to this before I got the truck. It was sitting in my tool box until now.

My excavator has one on it, for 12 years now its never opened accidentally. They will not open on their own.

I had the same concerns but if you look at it closely, you'll see a metal detent and spring which holds the lever in the closed position until a very specific motion is applied. It's also right up next to the back side of the drain pan so I just can't see anything accidently even getting close to it. Obviously time will tell but they sell a lot of these and the satisfaction ratings are pretty high.

And yes, they boys showed up for about 60 seconds. I love to make them feel awkward. They haven't reached my mental state yet where I don't give a flying crap ball about my image anymore.

Its a spring loaded clip that sits in a notch when closed. It's a good product. I'm going to install one on my truck at the first oil change
