if your mazda is anything like my 2.5 ranger (I know it is cuz mine is a mazda engine!!! lol) than yes just pull it out and put a new one on. it sits on the driver side.

Note to others about the PCV valve: Last time I left the truck at Ford, the service Mgr mentioned that they tend to go around 40K (just out of warranty) and if you say that your check engine light has come on a few times, they will change it for free (under warranty).
The emissions warranty manual for my 94 ranger said that Ford would replace the PCV valve free of charge at 60K miles. I had to dig out the manual and show them first but they did it. I know its only a $2 part but I couldn't help it. It was free (only time the truck gets to see the dealer is when its free.)
