Fuel filter/burning problems?
I have a 2000 Ranger (4 cyl, RWD) and thought that my problem with the pickup might be due to an old fuel filter (its about due for a change). However I am now getting a burnt plastic smell along with my poor performance. The smell actually seems to be located on the passenger's side between the cab and bed. I looked underneath and didn't see any visible burnt tar, rubber, plastic, etc...
Could this smell be related to what I think is a filter problem or is it just a coincidence? Is this a sign of something real bad?
