Headlight options.

So on my truck I'm looking for more of a brighter WHITE light not the yellow tint. But I also dosnt wanna be one of those guys blinding people down the road. Any suggestions?? I'm thinking about doing this with red led turn signals

Sylvania ultrastars, orange box at oreilly, nice white light no BS.

Good luck on the LEDs, most likely you will get pulled over since the law says front markers/signals may be clear or amber only.

Actually the Sylvania Silverstar or any other bulb with a blue coating that advertises brighter and whiter light is a marketing gimmick. A whiter light may seem brighter to the eye, but it is an illusion. There is more info about blue tinted bulbs on Daniel Stern Lighting.

The only bulbs to consider are the ones with clear glass. The brightest bulbs are Philips Xtreme and GE Nighthawk. There is also another bulb made by Narva called Rangepower, but I have never actually seen it in person.

A headlight relay setup will improve the output of the bulbs, since full power is given to them. Upgrading to a 130 amp alternator from the 95 amp alternator will also help keep all the lights brighter.

I would think that clear headlights would be brighter than smoked headlights. It just seems like some light would be lost with them.

Also, red front turn signal bulbs will be illegal. And just an FYI most LED replacement bulbs will not fully illuminate the lamp assembly since it will not completely reflect of the inside of the lamp.

Something else worth noting is that HID retrofit is illegal, because it produced excessive glare. The optics of the headlight assembly are not designed for that style of bulb. This modification is not worth considering.

I'm pretty sure it's illegal to have red LED's for the front turn signals (at least in my state). But I have seen people use "Switchback LED's", which can be white when the parking lights are on and then they switch to amber when you use the turn signal.

Well I do live in California where everything is illegal and I don't have smoked head lights they are clear and have black plastic inside to give it a blacked look but still have clear lenses.

There is the problem. No reflector = poor light!

The driver's side looks clear but the passenger side looks darker, like the plastic insert you described. I'm not sure why. Are they different or just the way the pic is?

I recommend a projector retrofit for the best visibility. I've seen reviews for those headlights that you're using, and it seems like the reflector puts out a poor beam, compared to stock.

If you do a projector retrofit, then I highly recommend 4500-5500k bulb. Anything higher doesn't provide nearly as much usable visibility.

Do yourself a favor and get a relay wiring harness and just about anyone's upgraded bulbs. You will be 100% legal, not **** anyone off and not empty your bank account
