I am installing a 6.0 cooler from Riffraff and am I correct in thinking that when you drop the pan and add the six quarts of fluid and a new filter when you start the truck you will only flush the around 6 quarts of fluid that you just poured in and to flush more you just add more fluid? Do you do this until the fluid is clear?
I got 25 quarts of Ford Mercon V to get a good flush. I was wondering if when I unhook the line form the old cooler can I just flush using the existing 3/8" line connected to the hard line? I do not have a OTW cooler.
I am planning on replacing a few feet of new 3/8' line to add to the 1/2" line so to have all new rubber line. Thanks guys
Hi yeah u just unhook the return line and after you put pan back and add fluid that came out ftom pan drop, use return line to flush it run truck until fluid becomes better colour.
I have been thinking about not dropping my pan and changing my filter since I have a drain plug. I only have 127,XXX miles. I have heard some people say that Ford does not recommend ever changing it. It would same some time for the 6.0 cooler install, Thoughts?
Thank you Mark, I have 20 quarts of Mercon V and will get to it this weekend. I wanted to get new 3/8" transmission line to replace the rubber line I will be connecting to with the 1/2" but I have decided to leave the factory line in place.
I have spent almost $3800 on my truck in the last few months and I am done. It is almost new again though lol.
Well I got the transmission flushed and the 6.0 cooler installed, just gotta finish making sure the fluid level is good. The hardest part of the job believe it or not was pouring the stupid fluid down the fill tube. My tube is kinda level at the beginning and when I poured ATF in the funnel if I went too fast it would puke fluid. It blew fluid all over everything twice?
It was like it would build air pressure and blow it out. uuuggggghhh
