Im new to diesel's we have a 03 6.0 the truck has been sitting for 2 year it ran fine but the turbo came in slow so we had it cleaned then it ran fine for the test drive then after that no power put a new map sensor on it they welded the egr that was the same no power put a new egr valve on it no power. After the truck warms up it runs great.
You need gauge system to read all of the important PIDs. Low power and low boost can come from quite a few different causes.
Also I assume that there are no leaks in the charge air system?
Things to check:
- FICM voltage and batteries as Benny said above!
- VGT operation
- High Pressure oil (ICP psig and volts, IPR% duty cycle, ICP desired).
Maybe even see how it runs with the ICP unplugged.
The edge wont tell you much. If you use a android phone you can gey a obd2 bluetooth adapter and buy torque out of the android store for like 5 bucks. Pretty easy way to use a android device as a gauge setup. Need to look at ficm voltage, icp just off the top of my head
No, I have no need to. this thing is always there and turns on automatically when I start the ex. It has saved my butt many times.
It is alot more expensive and less capible is why i was asking. Its been a staple of 6.0 guys though for a while so i understand. In my old truck i ran a bunch of analog gauges and have since tried to get away from that and more to something cost effective that can easily move to any vehicle i drive.
