[QUOTE=Frantz;16982589]It's all good. I was being a jerk, based on my own, possibly misguided, trend analysis. I did add a more "useful" post a few up there too![/QU
Awesome comeback Frantz! We're good.
Yes I'm a newbie will fall in line. I like this forum.
Frantz, the brakes are still a direct, mechanical connection. Push brake pedal, hydraulic fluid is forced to push out pistons with brake pads against steel rotors.
Oh boy! Don't tell Henry that! What year did Ford finally get hydraulics, wasn't it like 1937?
I get how brakes work, I have cars with 4 wheel drums, so I know fad better than many. Those valves and computers can change how they feel. I didn't think any major changes had happened, but if folks are saying they feel different/worse, when if anything they ought to be better, my only thought was a different feel. Considering the system can precharge the brakes (part of that collision warning system), it would make sense that there would be a difference in feel the system could generate. It's also possible this is yet another poor assumption on my part in this thread!
No troll job here, it was simply a comment about how I thought my breaks didn't seem as reactive. I was hoping it was simply because they have not been broken in yet. My other truck had 37's and stopped on a dime!!!
New to the board and been lurking. Got mine a couple weeks ago... Waiting for Wheels and lift to come in!
Thanks Tom! I knew it was late 1930s, couldn't remember the year. The picture you gave me of your '53 was getting more strong compliments yesterday!
That '53 is available - If it does not sell this summer in NY I'll have to bring it to TN. I think the market for vintage Fords is stronger here anyway. I did sell both trailers.

Anyone can take a picture at the dealership. Just saying
I put 202 miles on mine today while listening to the Daytona 500, cruising around and trying to break in my truck w variable rpm/speeds. I really believe the brakes were much better than the first days 47 miles. I know I kinda complained, but I may have to retract that statement chalking it up to not having the pads seat in yet.

I have always been a fan of a gentle break in period for the drive train.
With brakes my personal experience is that just the opposite is best. I have always set new vehicle brakes or new brake/rotor combinations with periods of hard, even braking. That seems to set the pads more evenly a reduce the chance of early glazing.
I pulled my 40' 5th wheel for the first time this weekend and all I can say is that, tow haul with exhaust brake work great at stopping. I used very little force on the peddle to stop. Probably less effort than when empty.
I am very happy with Braking. Great feel and capability. I have had two "hard brake" situations at highway speeds (one deer and one idiot) and both were well controlled with great feel and reaction. My 2011 Duramax braking was terrifying as a quick thump on the brake pedal in a similar instance as I previously described resulted in a severe deceleration even after removing pressure from the pedal.
Regarding dust, I have just turned 16,700 miles and the amount of brake dust is GREATLY reduced. For the first 5-10k miles, it was just terrible and it has been greatly reduced ever since.
My '15 dually stopped on a dime and I loved the pedal feel, but my '17 SRW, not the same feel, sure they stop great is my guess, have not needed to, yet but wish they felt like my duall.
