So my dog was riding in the back seat of my 2011 SD with covers when he suddenly went nuts over seeing a bunch of Prong Horn running along the road and jumping a fence. It was pretty cool to see, but he scratched the heck out of the arm rests.
Has anyone got any suggestions on if/how the scratched dark grey color can be repaired? Everything about the truck has remained pretty pristine inside and out, but this is really bothering me and I can find no information.
I'd even consider recovering all 4 with some sort of kit, if available like they have for some dashes and interiors. Thanks for the help!
I don't have an answer but I fell your pain. Our dog did the same thing to our brand new Escape when we went into the gas station store to buy a drink. We travel with the dog all the time and it never did that before. Living with the damage for now.
Had the same problem on mine when I got it. Looked at new pieces from Ford. I then thought about painting them to see just what in the world would happen. Go to Lowes or Home Depot and go over to the spray paint area. You are looking for Rust-oleum Metallic primer and paint in one. The color will be Flat Soft Iron. Pull your arm rest covers and gently sand the scratches to blend in with a sanding sponge. Paint it and let it dry. Put it back together and you will be amazed at how close it is to factory. I did all 4 arm rests to make sure they would be the same color. Hope this helps.
