3.83 gears

I have a 94 4.0, 5 sp 2WD extended cab ranger. It has 4:10 gearing and I get about 19-20 MPG highway. Stopped by a shop today and they will install the 3:83 gearset for around $500.

Question is for those who have that gearing what gas milage do you get on the highway. I normally run avg of 75 mph 150 miles round trip daily and I need to see if the difference in milage will justify the expense of the change out.

Thanks Hank

A 3.83 will not be that much different. You might went to go to a 3.73 or a 3.55.You wont lose thst much grunt, but you will gain a little better gas milage with them.JM.02W
