4X4 Auto / Lock

Hey Guys - Did a forum search but could not find an answer, so here goes.

I just picked up my new SD F350 SRW with FX4 pkg. It has the manual locking hubs, and ESOF (electronic shift on (the) fly)

My trade was an F150 FX4 with ESOF, and when I needed 4WD I just turned the ****. The manual locking hubs on this SD have "auto" or "lock", similar to a Jeep I had years ago.

So, my question is; Do I have to get out and turn the hub to "lock" each time I need 4WD and then use the ESOF ****, or can I just turn it to the "lock" position and leave it, then use the ESOF **** if necessary?

Turn the hubs to the "auto" position and leave them there. When you need 4x4, it will work just like your F150...just turn it to where you need it. The Super Duty just doesn't have the all wheel drive mode that the F150 does.

The "lock" position on the hubs is only there in the event of a failure of the vacuum system that automatically locks the front hubs. If that system fails, just put it in "lock" and then shift the transfer case with the **** like normal.

Thank you sir, you've been a great help! The "owners" manual is a bit vague. - Best wishes!!
