1956 F100 Vintage Air

I am looking for information on installing Vintage Air in a 1956 Ford F100. Can the original Fresh Air heater controls be used to control the unit? I want to have the A/C but want the interior to look as stock as possible. Thanks!

I'd ask Vintage Air. I asked them about Fresh Air from the passenger side side vents and they told me their unit didn't accommodate an in take. They have a cable operated system but I'd still ask.

The Vintage Air controls are electrical switches that moves servo motors. You could have the original cables connect to the handle of electrical switch. You might be better off putting the new controls in the glovebox and just have your originals mounted for show.

If it is that important to you to have the OEM controls then leave them in place and hide the V/A controls inside the glove box...that will be about all there is room for in there after the evaporator is installed anyway.

I installed a Classic Auto air in my truck and it is cable operated for the heat and blend controls. The fan is electric but their control panel looks more original than some of the others. I am very happy with the product so far and it installed easy using their Perfect Fit system. It is larger and hangs down more than a Vintage Air which could be an issue for some. I went with it because it uses separate evaporator and heat coils and the coils are larger than the Vintage Air unit that they sell for these trucks.

This photo shows the Classic Auto Air unit and the controls.
