New wiring harness issue.

I bought an OEM engine wiring harness for the coil, temp and oil pressure senders. The problem is the wire for the oil sender is too short and the wire for the coil is too long. The color codes are correct and I verified their functions with jumper wires and a voltmeter. Has anyone else run across this?

It sounds like you have one of those make it work projects.
Coil wire options cut the wire that's to long, or roll up the extra and put tape around it.=fixed
Oil wire splice in a piece from your old harness=fixed

My question was only if anyone else had run into this issue with a new harness. I know how I plan to fix the issue. It will not involve rolling up the excess nor splicing in old wires.

It's the correct part # for the harness as verified by some of the Ford parts veterans on this site.

I found that much of NOS is left behind for one reason or another.
Like miss labeled, dings or blemish in chroming or paint.

I assume you got it off ebay.

Did you buy the Mustang one or one listed for a Bumpside?

I got a Mustang harness for a 302 that had the oil pressure and coil connections reversed.

Sounds like a Mustang harness needs to be ran along the bottom of the valve cover where as a Bump one is along the top of the cover.
