Traded the 2008 for a new 2016 a couple of weeks ago (couldn't resist the extra $4000 owner loyalty!). I took it into service because the brakes seemed spongy and required quite a bit of effort to stop (compared to my 2008, my wife's 2015 edge and the loaner 2017 escape). Service said there was nothing wrong, told them I disagreed. Had my wife drive it tonight to see what she would notice...she moved the pedals way up...proceeded to drive and said the brakes felt fine. I got back in, moved the pedals all the way down, and the brakes sucked....I moved the pedals up a bit and they felt fine!!!??? Just curious if anyone has noticed a difference between pedal locations??
Love the 5.0 so far, except for the drivers wind noise (they replaced the moulding but still leaks...have read about the various fixes (including the unlock keypad), gonna try those this weekend hopefully.
Never noticed anything, but I never move the pedals. Brakes on my 2015 felt super-sensitive when we first got it. Took me a while to not brake too hard.
You never want to mess around with brakes not working right! That being said, I don't think its possible that the position would make a difference with brake pedal pressure needed. I do know when my legs are stretched out in a car it does feel soft, but I've always associated that with my legs, not the car itself. Test by moving the seat and pedals back equally and see if it's a similar sensation.
dlburch - I'll agree with you on the pedal pressure. I went from a 2010 XLT to a new 2016 Lariat about 3 weeks ago and I still haven't adjusted to the pedal pressure needed as compared with the older truck. I don't think anything is wrong. I'm just trying to learn the amount of pressure needed and it is significantly more than I was accustomed to. I also never move my pedals so I can't say if there's any difference.
My brakes were way more sensitive than any of my previous trucks... it took a bit to get used to the braking power.

i was hoping for more sensitive, that is why I was disappointed. I'll try raising the pedal a bit, they are definitely more "normal". I'd be interested if anyone else notices a difference with the pedal all the way down.

I wouldn't think it would be an issue, but is it possible with the pedals all the way down it is limiting the pedal travel?
I tried to contort my old body under the dash to see how the mechanism works, it looks like the pedal moves within a piece that pivots, so there definitely seems to be a different angle between the actual pedal and the actuator rod for the master cylinder between the two adjustment extremes. I haven't played enough with it to know if the "issue" happens gradually, or if there is a certain point near the bottom where it changes. I'm more happy that the brakes work better than I am disappointed that I can't put the pedals all the way down...I'm sure the dealer will say it's working normally.
