DEF distance to empty upon request

16' F350 6.7 Lariat
Please help clarify this for me.

Is there an option/program I can have done that will give me my
DEF's Distance to Empty Level added to my Info Cluster similar to the
Distance to Empty I have for my Fuel Level ?

(hope this makes sense)

No. The def level is not measured like a fuel tank, there are discrete level point that give warnings at below 1/2 full, 800 miles left, etc. 17's have a gauge, it might be possible, but not sure if anyone has done it.

since you have a '16 it will do a count down starting at 500 miles to empty. Gives you a ton of time and notifications to fill up at your leisure.

I let mine get down to 200 till empty before I even bother filling it.

If you are towing a lot and going far then just carry a couple of jugs with you if needed.

Senix - When do you fill up the diesel tank?

I start looking when I get to 1/2 tank left... I have let it get down to 1/4 tank, I think once.

Once I catch a 1/2 DEF tank message, I wait until my next fill up and then a 2.5 gal jug fits. I have only seen a countdown message twice since 2010...

I do not recommend carrying DEF. There are many stores now that carry DEF at reasonable prices. There is a Wal Mart on ever corner it seems.

I also do not think the date on the container is an expiration date nor use by date. Think is a MFG date. I have used DEF that I have hauled with me in my truck tool box for 2.5 years with no problems

Only when it hits 200 to empty do i even bother. Plenty of warnings before then

I do them at different times. Although i use truck stop pumps alot i just prefer to fill the def with the jugs.

I am checking tires, trailet connections and everything else while fueling.

When i hit the 500 to 200 range it us just as easy for me to fill tge def independent of fueling.

I wiukd muss tge half empty notifications.

I do all that when I travel. When I am home I check most things inside the heated garage instead of outside in the cold/wet weather.

Sometimes when I know I have driven 1-2k miles and I am at a bulk DEF fuel station, I take advantage of it and top off... Right now my only concern with DEF is that I like to use a complete 2.5 gal jug and I like to "reset" at least one of the levels, hence the wait for "1/2 full".

I found out that it's hard to pour my extra bottle of DEF in the tank if it goes low and I've kept it out in the back of the truck (When traveling up here). Can't pour a solid block of DEF (since it freezes at 14f). Same way I learned that bottles of water and soda freeze in the cooler in the bed... and soda cans like to explode too. (don't ask).

I'm **** retentive about things and I have running out of things anxiety issues, including fuel/DEF.

Under normal driving conditions, no load, do any of you have a best guess ?? way to determine the amount of DEF consumed per miles driven ?
(for example 2000 miles per gallon off DEF fluid used)

no loads def should go around 7K miles, heavy towing around 4-5K.

I filled up 1st of jan and need def again right now because of towing. 430 to empty.

I get close to 1000 miles per gallon daily driving, not pulling. Gone as high as 1200 and as low as 600, which was when I was using bodiesel blends. Bio causes you to use more Def.

I do mostly unloaded highway driving as use about 1 gal per 1000 miles.
