Has anyone every tried to install a second battery in a 2010 with a 5.4 in it? Where can you drop it? that air cleaner is huge, can you get a smaller one?
There isnt a lot of room in the engine bay for an Extra battery box. Most of the ones I have seen are mounted up underneath on the passengers side on the frame rail. I believe there is a battery box you can buy that has the brackets on it to mount it there.
I dont like the location personally as I have been looking for somewhere other than there. There was someone who mounted that spare batter in a case like battery holder in the bed of the truck , but I dont really like the idea due to the fact I like to have my room available in the bed when hauling.
This is the along the same topic base but once you find a location what's the sequence in wiring it up ? I'd like to get a second battery to go along with my mechman alternator
You can use a battery box from a e series van that mounts to the frame rail watsonr a member in the 6.0 forum used one to add a 3rd battery to his 6.0 power stroke it worked very well and the battery box wasn't very expensive here Randy's thread https://www.ford-trucks.com/forums/1...tallation.html
You can always make your own dual battery set up
This is my 2001 5.4L with a factory drivers side tray. The second battery is directly wired to the main battery with 02 cable.
Why two Batteries? I have more electric crap than allowed by law and one works fine..
1000 cca battery, 200 amp alt and you are good to go..Its the alternator that runs the stuff anyhow. The battery is for starting and load absorption. The winch causes a large draw sometimes but not for long. Unless you have a monster sound system. LOL

I am sure the OP has some ideas about the biggest problem is there really isnt any room under the hood for another battery in the 08-10 F250 F350 5.4's, that seems to be why the Op was looking for some ideas and suggestions.
A dual set up isnt hard to wire up for the most part, just figuring where that battery is going to go is the tough bit, there just isnt room under the hood, which is odd you would think with the 5.4 there would be some room, but not so much...lol

Came to post this as well, this is exactly how I would install a second battery using OEM parts.
I just bought a big winch M12000 warn for my hunting truck, that is why I wanted to get a second battery, I have always had two with a winch set up. If there is a larger current alternator you can get I would love to know the model number too as I would buy one of those as well. I was looking at replacing the air cleaner box with exactly what " Pocketlint" did! Looks Good, but I too thought there might be a factory option you could get.
Pocketlint, do you have a picture with it actually in the truck now? Is it a smaller battery of a big one? Thanks for all the help!
