surgin at higher speeds

my 92 aerostar surges at speeds above 70mph the engine ranges from abtou 2000rpms to abotu 3000rpms. it surges abtou 3-500 rpms i was thinking fuel system, anyone else have a problem liek this befor?

Sounds like it could be the fuel filter, and yes, mine did the same when it was clogged. Power picked up considerably when I changed it. When was the last time it had a tune-up?
