Surging rpms??

howdy fellas, gals.....rpms surge about 200 and then settles back....specially when slowing down....what should I be looking for, thanks

95, psd, 2wd, 241k on the clock

Do you have an auto and it surges when driving? If so then maybe the trans is slipping and might need rebuilt. Is there any codes?

need a litttttle bit more info. does it do it at idol, does it do it on intial start up or taking off from a red light?

idle and when slowing down it acts like when you put the truck in reverse when its cold(like it wants to cut out) thanks
