Hey yall, as I posted earlier, have had VERY intermitant issue when attempting to start 6.7 manually with key, all I get is high pitched zing or grind noise. Again very intermittant, dealer could not replicate while truck in shop for another issue. Yesterday, it happened again, only like 12 times consecutively, both while trying to start manually, or remotely, to the point where I thought I was going to have to tow it to the dealer. Would like to know if any others are experiencing this issue, or if anyone knows the cause.
I had the same issue on my 2014 with the 6.7. It only happened twice. I documented it in a little black book that I keep in the console for fuel usage ect. thinking that if it ever became an issue I could give exact mileage and dates.
If you ever get to a point that it won't turn over you may want to try to turn the engine by hand just a wee bit. (Not an easy thing to do) It will possibly turn the flywheel enough to give the starter a tooth to bite on. This is assuming that its the flywheel and not the starter.
I haven't been into the dealership yet. I try to stay away from those places. If the time comes that something is worth the heartburn, I'll do it then. For now I just keep a log and let time determine whether I need a warranty visit or not. Sometimes things just go away. The only thing that is an issue that is actually fixable is the center console tray slider thingy and that can wait.
I have 1800 miles on truck, had issue almost from day one, but very random, happening much more, called dealer today, requested they get with ford, find out what they know, will keep yall posted.

Just a suggestion. You might want to mention this problem to the dealership and make sure that they note it in their computer. Ford will stand behind repairs after the warranty runs out as long as they were documented prior to its expiration.
