Hi Everyone, I apologize as this is my first post and may be a little unorthodox. I have had my 04 F150 Lariat parked for the majority of 6 months of the winter. After the long break the remote start has stopped working. I first believed the issue was in the door sill wiring as the door sensors and the radio wouldn't shut off, but i repaired that wire in the door sill. When prompted on the remote, the truck turns on, turns on the lights and dash (no cranking) 3 times and then shuts off. No honks, but the theft light flashes fast when it tries to start the truck - it does not give a flashing code after. I get the code B1600 - No pats key detected. Please help, its cold and i miss my remote start!
Sounds like an immobilizer issue. Try and locate it to see what brand it is. It should be located under the steering column cover. You may have to reprogram/relearn the keys to it.
Thanks for the reply. I agree with an immobilizer issue, although the truck starts fine without it. If i try to start the truck using the remote, and put the key touching the ignition it will start. I have tried reprogramming the key and fob and nothing seems to change. Any ideas on how to proceed with a repair would be greatly appreciated.
