I have read that you first need to disconnect the spout connection before you set your timing. Where is it on my 94 Bronco. I've got a 302 in it and I want to check the timing to make sure its right. The truck runs ok but I think it could be better.
Any info would help.
The SPOUT connector is in the wiring harness on the driver's inner fender mere inches from the ignition control module which is mounted to the inner fender in a hefty aluminum heat sink. Its about .5" by .75", grey in color, and has two (2) pink wires attached to it.
The base timing setting is usually 10 degrees BTDC. The computer makes ALL of the corrections in timing based on the base timing setting. If its off, the the corrections made by the computer will be off. Check a service manual or the under hood decal for the correct procedure in setting the base timing. If not followed, the setting will be wrong.
On my 96 the SPOUT connector was actually taped up into the wiring harness inches from the ignition module. Look for the lump. I had a hard time seeing it because it is directly below the cruise control components.
