2002 xlt f250. First diesel

I made the plunge and picked up a 02 f250 with 7.3. 200000 miles runs and shifts smooth. Just a little rust issues I need to fix before they get bad. Figured I'd stop in and say hello.

Any idea what mods previous owners might have done to it?

Mine was 100% bone stock but those are hard to find.

The only thing that looks like was added was a trailer brake and tow mirrors. Everything else is bone stock. I plan on pretty much leaving it that way.

You may want to rethink that. The factory airbox lets in a lot of dirt, for example. Then there are the weaknesses in the fuel system - like clogged pickup feet, air being sucked into the fuel, and sometimes the inability to start the truck on less than 1/4 tank of gas.

Welcome to the FTE, this is a great place to learn about your new truck. You have started out on a good food by posting a picture.

I would offer similar advice to what Andy has said. Just because it was OEM/stock 15 years ago, does not mean it was a good idea.

Things you might want to search for and learn about right off the bat.

Passenger side fuel line leak
Stock air box replacement
Hutch/harpoon mod

Also, the list of preventive maintenance is endless. Things like checking the vacuum lines, 4x4 locking hubs, axle vent lines, fluids, etc...

Have fun with it though, it is a great looking truck.

The 4x4 hubs is new to me. My jeep doesn't have those. I've looked into the air filter mod. After I clean up the rust and Tint the windows. I'll probably do that one next
