Was tuning the truck when my daughter and grandkids showed up; rushed the finish and boy, did I know something was wrong. Gutless, almost dying at stops - wth? Then it occurs to me...I never pulled the vacuum line from the advance before timing!!
The good part is I know for a fact my vacuum advance works like a champ now... instead of 10 BTDC, the notch was just over the 4ATC line, so my vacuum advance is pulling 14-16 degrees at a a high idle. Just took feeling like an idiot to determine that..
Heh, those things happen. But it definitely lets you know why you want to time with the vacuum advance disconnected. Especially if you use full manifold vacuum (vs. ported) for your vacuum advance.
