Head lights and tail lights have to be seen/throw out so much light at so many feet as per the gov.

If something has been done to impede that you broke the law and as pointed out anything can happen.

Also if you look on the cans of tail light black out paint it says not for street use. That is because you are cutting back on the light out put and braking the law.
I also cant see why you would want to make it hard to see or be seen at night

The chrome also participates in the design of light transmission....again, you are reducing the effectiveness....................

I think they look great to. As long as you don't paint the reflective chrome in the lights you don't effect the light output. The hard part is getting the lights apart. You need to heat them in an oven to soften the glue and then pry them apart. Youtube videos make this look easy but I saw a guy break both his headlights trying to do this. It can be done though!

If you REALLY want the look, go on EBay and buy some aftermarket black chrome lights. If your truck is anywhere near the 90s, you'll find a set for pretty cheap.

When I got new lights for my Expedition, I looked at function first. Separate high & low beams were #1 on the list, additional style points for the extra LEDs, and being plug & play with no fuss. Found a set for $60 shipped, made by Spyder Auto. Black Chrome, H3 low beam/9005 High beams, separate accessory DRL LEDs (to be repurposed), DOT compliant, one-piece housings including turn signals and they work far better than stock.

The last thing we need here is someone imitating the silly Honda kids and failing even more miserably than they do...
