Has anyone used a mirrortap and blendmount to hook up their radar detector to their 17 super duty? If so, do you know what wires you tapped into? I am not good with electrical stuff so I am trying to avoid tying into upfitter wires.
I just installed mine last weekend. I have the rain sensing camera I tapped into the white connector Black wire is the ground and the solid yellow wire is the power.
i know you asked about using power in the mirror but as an alternative, you can run the wire across the headliner and down the passenger A pillar to the fuse box in the passenger footwell as I did. Install was easy and I didn't have to worry about breaking any tabs on the housing. A pillar trim came off easily and I was able to stuff the wire into the headliner without dropping it. I believe I used the fuse for the heated steering wheel for power ( I don't have heated steering wheel but fuse was there and had key on power)
I'm using a Blendmount on my Escort Solo S2 radar detector. It's a tight fit but it works just fine. You need to slide the Blendmount as far forward (towards windshield) as possible on the mirror mount to be able to adjust the mirror.

Just FYI, the camera does not detect rain. It detects approaching headlights or taillights or streetlights (for auto high beams), as well as lane markings (for lane departure warning). The rain sensor is just above the camera; it is an infrared sensor like the one in your TV remote control, just adapted.
How do you find radar detectors work these days? With all the blind-spot radar creating a lot of false alarms, and most cops using laser or newer radar bands...point and shoot...I find them basically useless.

Damn GM (suburban's) and Audi's are the absolute WORST polluting the radar spectrum - I stopped using my Valentine 1, who supposedly has an upgrade/fix
