Still trying to clean the debris from the a/c system that fell to the inside of the kick panel and started a fire. Where does the water from the outside vents in front of the windshield drain to? This is where the debris came from after the truck was parked for years under a tree. I cleared the debris from the fresh air plenum door down to the running board and punched out the rotten rubber plug, but when I reach up underneath I can still feel debris. Do I have to take the vent cowl off? I can't find a diagram in the shop manual. Thanks for the help.
I was going to say you are a week too late for me to check my truck as I put the nose back on then..........remembered I have the parts truck to look at.
I cant get out to look at it till maybe the week end. If you don't get an answer remind me to go look.

Just went thru my pictures and found this
It is the black rubber "duck bill" as someone calls it in another post.
I think I also pulled the inside kick panels & block off plates (AC trucks) to reach in to clean out.
I used shop air to "blow" the crud out as it was dry.

The duck bills are low down, in front of where the door bolts on. They are usually hidden by the wheel well and fender. Can clearly see the driver's side duck bill in FuzzFace2's pic just above. Black rubber.
Duck bills are used in all sorts of stuff, they act like a one-way valve. In this case (when they were new!), they let water from the cowl vent above, to run out of the body. Without letting a lot of air and dust, etc, back in.
Unscrew the rear of the plastic inner fender.
Reach up to about the level of the lower door hinge.
Persuade the rubber boot off and dig all the muck and leaves out.
Throughly flush each side with a garden hose.
If the water is getting into the cab you are going to have to make a repair.
Consider gluing some screen to the inside of the cowl (like GaryLewis did) or switching to a bricknose ('87-'91) 'polka dot' style cowl to minimize future buildup.
