Sync 3 Huge Disappointment

I just ordered the Remote access kit and the other piece it takes to make it work, I hope it works. On the reviews some say it works great some say it doesn't work very well. Hope it works for me. I am kind of a techie.

My phone will occasionally, but fairly routinely, fail to connect to the truck. Switching the phone bluetooth on and off will cause it to reconnect. Sometimes I have to manually tell the truck to reconnect. I think this problem varies by phone model. Mine is an iPhone 6.

My problem appear to be neither 1 of 6 plus IPhones will stay connected through USB
Initially recognizes the device when trying to use it to stream music outside of CarPlay or within CarPlay, it will not access the contents
Both worked flawlessly over the Sync 2 system and recently on a Sync 3 in an Expedition rental

Make sure your iPhone version is completely up to date. I am now running v10.2.01 OS and it seems to work Better on an iPhone 5s. I agree, I don't connect via USB and rely on blue tooth, it works better. I also have an old iPod, it connects all the time, and the songs that have artwork, are displayed. We shall see what happens when I get an upgraded phone, maybe more issues, IDK.

I have only connected my Android phone to sync through Bluetooth and my contacts worked correctly. Samsung Galaxy S6 running Android 6.0.1.

My 2014 does this every now and then (I phone 5)I always thought there was something wrong with the truck and now my 17 is doing it as well I just ordered a new phone 6s I hope this fixes it

Happens to me a few times a year. Just last week I had to pull over and restart my truck.

I did a test this evening with a USB thumb drive. It stayed connected.
Therefore the issue is the USB communications protocol between they Synch Onyx Operating system and the Apple IOS protocol.
Since it worked flawlessly on Sync 2, that pretty much isolates it to Sync 3.
Ford needs to get with it and address this issue in sync and get a sync fix out quickly.
