Fuel pump 6.0

So I'm stumped I have an 04 6 liter and I have no power to my fuel pump. My fuse under my Dash is good which is a 20 amp fuse which is number 40. My inertia switch is not tripped and I have power to it however my fuel pump does not have power what else could it be? Is there a relay somewhere else? Thanks for the help in advance.

Welcome to FTE 04kingrancher

Electrical is not my passion but we have some resident experts who can help you out. The fuel pump relay is integrated into the under dash fuse panel and it is not serviceable separately. The fuzzy question, you have power to inertia switch, do you have power and ground at the fuel pump?

Inertia switch: The dark green/yellow wire should have power 20 seconds after turning on the key. You only checked the pink/black wire?

You say you have power to the inertia switch. Do you have power after the switch? Where are you checking power at the pump? Or are you assuming no power at the pump because it doesn't run?

Just asking because I do not know your capabilities and trying to rule things out. Some folks have had the electrical plug at the fuel pump come loose when replacing the pump or the filters.

If you have power after the inertia switch and none to your pump then you most likely have a disconnection or break in the line between the two points.

When did you check for voltage after turning on the key?
Yes, the relay will only allow power to the pump for a few seconds if it doesn't recognize the engines running through crank or cam sensors/PCM.
It's a safety issue to keep the pump from burning up when it's trying to pump fuel with no place to go.

The pump always has someplace to go, it's bypass pressure system, not dead headed.

It turns off maybe for safety, maybe for something else.

The real problem here is the controlling relay is integral to the circuit junction box and not seviceable when it fails. You either replace the intire CJB or develop you own workaround.

Once it reaches pressure, with no demand, fuel is returned to the tank if the pump doesn't time out. Fuel in the rail will wait until it's burned.

As mentioned, check the voltage at the pump and start working backward.
