Parts questions

About to put my truck back together. I need a few parts, namely a torque converter, flexplate and a harmonic balacer. Truck is a 78' with a 302 and a C4. Any input I to what i need to get is appreciated.

Flexplate is for a clutch. Perhaps you need a flywheel?

Nope Flexplate is for automatics. Flywheel is for a manual with a clutch. Your thinking of a pressure plate.

I think summit and jeggs would be the easiest place to get all the parts you need and have choices for after market parts. I have seen thicker flex plates. I am going too order one for my c6 when I pull my truck down to do a few upgrades. The torque converter should be close to the same operating rpm of your cam.

Any idea of dampener and flexplate I need? How many teeth? External balancing? How many ounces?

Is the 302 original to the truck? If so, then you would want a 28 ounce imbalance flywheel/flexplate and harmonic balancer. The 302 changed to a 50 ounce imbalance spec in 1981 I believe.

The best indicator of what you have/need is the part number on the crank.
