clutch change

I am changing my clutch and the parts guy wants to know if I have a 10" or 11" clutch. Duh..I don't know. I have a I300 in my 77 F100. I'm sure not gonna tear the damn thing out just to find out.

Second, I want a 11" clutch. Can the flywheel handle either? How do I go about installing a 11" clutch if the flywheel accepts a 10"? Can I use a flywheel off a 302?

You will have to tear it apart to find out. Is it 2wd or 4x4? I took apart my 93 F150 transfer case, tranny and replaced clutch slave cylinder, and flyweel in one saturday, and got a ride to the parts store to be sure I got the right parts (took olds with me). You have to buy a flywheel intended for an 11" clutch to use the 11" disc, you will also need the 11" pressure plate and disc. I am not sure, but I think the 300I6 and the 302V8 are balanced differently so you may want to check as far as the swap is concerned. Eric

The only way to check is to drop the bell and look. The flywheel could be drilled for both 10 and 11" clutch assemblies. Only a I6 flywheel will work on a I6. I6,302 and 351w flywheels all will fit on your crank but are all balanced differently. I think the I6 may be an internally balanced motor because the flywheel has no counter balance on it. Both the 302 and windsor are externally balanced and have counter weights on the flywheel (28oz for 351w and 50oz for 302). I have flywheels for all 3 engines and all of mine are drilled for either 10 or 11" clutches.
