I don't know where you are located but I have a similar white smoke issue. I'm in MN and whenever it is cold out (below freezing) I start my truck and let it run a while. When I leave for work I get a large amount of white smoke. I'll drive about a block and it stops. It's like I'm rolling coal but with white smoke. But unlike your symptoms mine stops after the first couple minutes.
Would the cold be causing this? Or should I be scanning for the same codes? I have the bluetooth OBD and the torque app, would this give me the same information as the Forscan or would it be best to run that program?

Normal, it's just cold exhaust and once it warms up you don't see that condensate. Same as a gasser, difference being you don't see it as quick on a diesel.
Ours is the same way once it drops down to the teens.
I like the diagnostic technique that suggests to put your face in the plume of smoke,
chew on it, suck it in, and see if it burns your eyes.
Then you'll know for sure what it is.
Ok so weird question but do you guys think it could be smoking because I cleaned the egr valve? The code p0299 listed possible problems that could be wrong. One was the egr failed and with scan gauge I can tell when it starts to open or is close. Now I'm not sure if this was coincidence or not, but when it opens up it smokes. When it's closed (still cold) it doesn't smoke. It's done it with two trips.
