dead truck

so Saturday morning at 0650 driving back from work on a 12 hour shift, the truck is running ok. warmed up before I took off and then the dash went dark. Tach, speedo, all of the gauges except the fuel gauge went dark, to 0 and including showing the gear position... yet the cruize was still working.

alarms were going off, high temp, no oil pressure, the "track" alarm, and then just a general wrench symbol. well heck the motor was still purring along, but I did stop at the gas station to check it out.

turned the truck off.... BAD MISTAKE... it wont restart. now I am tired, cold, and pissed off at the 2016 F-250 with 31K miles on it. I think an electrical wire came loose from some controller.

Went home slept, 3 hours, called Ford, a tow truck and we will check it monday is all I got.

BTW... how was your day today....

Check the larger multi-conductor connectors under the dash and the PCM connectors under the hood. Stuff like this has happened when those have come loose. Better luck tomorrow.

My Day has been fine, but I haven't had to drive anywhere and last time I did my truck started and drove fine. I hope you day on Monday is better.

Let us know what happens. I have heard of grounds getting loose causing mayhem. There is one near the e-brake pedal that comes to mind. IIRC, it's the ground for the main computer.

My guess is it's something easy once found. Make sure they show you so if it happens again you can fix it. (hopefully it won't happen again, but if it did, that would be the FIRST place I'd look)

I do use my Emergency brake frequently.... good information to know... oh yeah during the tow, what ever giggled loose must have tightened up enough to let it crank and be driven around the Ford lot to be parked....
now it will be harder to find working...

I hear you on that... I don't know it all for sure and it could be something else. Sure seems like a loose connection somewhere. Wish I had that winning lotto ticket too. Would make life a little more enjoyable.

I've certainly been in your shoes before.

Mine did the exact same thing a touch over a week ago when I had just left home for work at 02:00. I turned around and went back home though, rather than trying a roadside diagnostic or repair - believing if I shut off, I couldn't restart. When I got back to my driveway and shut off, it wouldn't even attempt to start. I unplugged and replugged the giant connector above the parking brake assembly, and was able to restart. I scanned and cleared all codes. No new ones popped up after that, and I have had no further issue since. That plug seems to be a common source of problems. I also use my parking brake routinely.

Well they cleared the codes, and I have to check and tighten the connections. but it all seemed good for a quick look. after clearing codes it runs just like normal, just need some dry days and time to get it done.
