Snakes are everywhere, if there was any doubt the buyer should have taken the truck to a trusted mechanic.
He should of taken it to a mechanic sure, doesn't give the snake the right to lie about something he obviously knew about and was purposely trying to screw the buyer over on. A snake like that would find out real quick I'm usually a nice guy thats not scared of jail.
I have the 2V engine and no, this is not a common problem for the 2V setup. Instead of our plugs breaking, the plug holes just get stripped out. Had this happen to me twice in less than two years.
I am not going to cheer you up any. That's a broken off easy out. Bad news. How tall is the round piece which sticks up? You may be able to get something onto it and wind the easy out IN to get it out of the broken plug. If you continue to wind counterclockwise you'll never get it out. An easy out winds CW to release it.
I have removed dozens of these damned broken plugs over the years. It's not so bad to do with the right tools. I've tried three separate tools and have one now which works wonders. Let me know if I can be of further help.
2v engines do not have the breaking spark plug issue, That was exclusive to the 3V engine.
From the factory, the 3V engines came with a Motorcraft spark plug that had the upper half and the "wrench flats" on a crimped on metal shell. If there was any sort of corrosion or normal "crud" in the threads that caused resistance when unscrewing the plug, the crimp would fail and you'd leave the threaded portion in the head.
