2002 Bed Rail Cap Removal

Hey guys has anyone taken the plastic top bed rail covers off??????? If so how do you remove them? i have taken my topper off to use a camper instead!!!!! the topper was held on with bolts so i am replacing the bed rails to get rid of the bolt holes.........some people mention plastic tabs, some mention metal tabs. I was hoping to get some clarity and maybe some pics before i go lay in the freezing cold to change these.

They are plastic tabs they suck to get off without breaking them. You need to start at one end with a pry bar and slowly work it up. It helps to have a second person lying in the bed pushing up from the bottom .
