3rd gear lockout ?
Maybe a stupid question to some but I guess you'd need to drive one of these 2.5L limas with an auto behind it. The truck has a very respectable amount of power for a 20 year old 4 cylinder and ultimately I love it (thought I never would). It pulls very well in 1st and 2nd so it bothers me that whenever I'm on a hill doing 70 and I know it could pull it in that gear, but it downshifts. Unless you release the pedal to a point where semis are outrunning you, just to avoid the downshift. I don't like the trans shifting more than absolutely necessary, I throw it in the gears I want it in when driving through town or in traffic.
Simply, Is there a way I could install an interrupter switch or something on the dash to lock out downshifts when pulling hills the truck could do if you could open the throttle all the way in the gear 4th?

No.. you are fighting software here so about the only thing that may be able to do what you want it a tuner...as long as the truck is a '96 or later.
