Ok, so I just bought this 1995 Ranger, 2.3/5spd, 2wd. It will not start, not even on ether. I hear the fuel pump running when key is first on....so I am assuming its a NO SPARK condition...
When I turn the key to "ON", I do not see the SES light come on....where is it located on the cluster? I do not have a tach, but do have gauges.
Thank You.
Ok, I checked the timing belt. its good. I replaced the crank and cam sensors, and still no spark. I have power at the coils. So today I am going to check all grounds. I cant think of much else other than the ECU. OH...and its a "97"..not a 95.
OK, so 229 views and only 1 person willing to help. LOVE the internet.
So I pulled the computer and it did not match up to what should be in there. The reman # on it said it needed to be plashed for the specific vehicle. SO I ordered a computer that matched the code on the drivers door jam. We shall soon see.
I do not know anything about a Ranger 2.3, but, I went to Rockauto and it appears they have an ignition control module. Has this been checked? This is only anecdotal, and not diagnostic, but years ago my '89 Econoline, 302 developed a warm engine ignition loss of spark. The ignition module tested good at 2 parts stores but still had the problem; it turned out the module was faulty. Good luck.
