Looking at a 2000 7.3 with 200k. He is asking $14,900 for it 1 owner, clean title, service records and receipts. Mostly hwy, any thoughts on not to buy?
Probably not enough information to really say. Seems high to me given the miles, but the prices on these 7.3 are crazy high if the truck is in truly good shape.
For that money I would expect a vehicle that doesn't require the standard $5+k worth of body work, brakes, front-end work, sensors, oil pan, etc. once you get the keys.
New glow plugs, injectors etc. no body work needed. All receipts are from a ford dealership for life of truck which is comforting. Ball joints were all done, bearings, hubs +... It's pretty clean. I am just nervous about buying one with 200k. Was well taken care of though. Just looking for some 7.3 experience and input. Sorry typing from my phone.
Example......I sold my '02 F250 4x4 7.3 last May for $15,000, had 140k on the clock and was in great condition. New glo plugs, 18" wheels with Toyo 285-75-18, air bags with on board compressor and goose and 5th wheel set up. Also had a Pac Brake exhaust retarder. Banks pyro and boost gauges, the interior was almost like new....the new owner didn't flinch at the price. I think $14,900 is a little high with 200k unless the truck has lots of options and no problems or body work.
About a year and a half ago, my dad bought a 2000 F-350 dually with the 7.3, extended cab long bed. 100k miles on the clock, VERY clean inside and out. He paid $14,000.
From the information you've provided on this truck, I don't think there's much to worry about mechanically, but $14,900 would definitely be high, at least around here, for a truck with 200k miles.
