Yesterday I noticed my steering wheel has started to sqeak like a rusty spring would. Only happens: at 10-20mph, at 25%-50% turning capacity if that makes sense. Any ideas what could be causing this?
Addtional details: steering wheel does not feel loose, but does have some play in it. Nothing is wedged in between the steering wheel and column.
There is a copper plate inside that has contacts that rub on the plate for your horn and cruise if you have that. The contacts get dry and squeak. I used to put grease on these back in the day at the ford dealership. you could remove the steering wheel to put grease on the plate or try to spray a little WD-40 or something like it.
