well there you go . more bad news on our trucks .. 218 miles locked up motor / oil problem I'm guessing . boy read on his facebook .. good news travels fast ...
Seen that as well. I'm just glad to see the ones with oil pump problems are dropping out fairly quick. Makes me feel better about mine as i turn over 16k miles and only had the trans line leak so far.
Is it myth or true that buying first year remodel is a bad idea? Because they have kinks like this to work out or is it just luck of the draw
Typically this applies when there are major engine or transmission changes. There were some changes to the motor, but nothing major and nothing to do with oil (that I know of).The question here is did the oil pump change with the redesign? If it did not, this problem would have happened regardless of the redesign.

Ford has always put crappy oil pump and oil pump gears in their engines. Especially the 5.0 and now the 5.2. So it would wouldn't surprise me one bit they went the cheap route on the 6.7 as well.

This is completely unsubstantiated. We had a 2011 F-150 5.0 which went 60,000 entirely trouble free miles. That engine was smooth as silk. I know several owners of 5.0L Mustangs (Coyote engine) with more miles than that; no issues.
My 2017 has 5,000 miles on it with zero issues except the media door.

I guess I wasn't clear with my post, sorry. On the coyote engine the oil pump gear is the weakest link when modding especially when you add boost that's why people switch to a billet oil pump gear. But there are severely GT350 owners that are bone stock that the oil pump gears went out on them. Ford knows its a problem but doesn't fix it and continue to use the cheap oil pump gears.

I have to agree with Troverman. I have never heard this before.
The oil pump is designed to handle the stock engine as it leaves the factory.
I do not think that you can you can add an aftermarket blower and/or other high performance mods then complain that the stock engine components are weak.

FYI, the pump being the weakest link when modding really has nothing to do with Ford using a cheap pump. It's built to handle stock numbers, and that's all that matters.
The GT350 is another story if what you are saying is true.

When people buy a mustang do you really think they will keep it stock? lol And yes I'm a member on a few GT350 forums and facebook group and it is a known problem. And a friend of mine has a GT350R has 1100 miles on it bone stock and had a new engine replaced cause the oil pump gear went out. I don't think its the power is the issue with the 5.2L its how high the red line is on that engine.

But that's not Ford's problem. And I would wager that most Mustangs are stock (engine-wise). Just like most Super Duty trucks are kept stock. What you see on fan forums is not the norm.
